'Xanadu' evokes both the real historical capital of Kublai Khan's Mongol empire, described in Samuel Taylor Coleridge's famous 1816 poem, and William Randolph Hearst's real, extravagant California estate Hearst Castle, which inspired the fictional mansion in Orson Welles' 1941 film 'Citizen Kane.'
