Conspiracy Narrative
References the real 1989 "cold fusion" controversy, when chemists Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons claimed to have achieved nuclear fusion at room temperature -- a sensational finding that other labs couldn't replicate, and one that quickly became a byword for scientific overreach and wishful thinking.
